As of November 2003, PC/POLL is using a straight through cable with all TEC registers except for the 1535 and 1350 Modem Cabling.  For the 1535 PC/POLL is using a null-modem cable.  (1350 direct connection uses a standard straight through cable as shown below.)  For the SL9000 the recommend method of communication is through an RS-422 converter.  (Below is an alternate cabling diagram that requires extra register programming to establish communication.)
