Version 7 Register Setup: Sharp
600 and Sharp 700
Below are some basic instructions for setting up a register for
communications with V7. These steps should only be completed by a
certified cash register dealer. In order to set up communications,
dealers must first program the register to allow communications, connect the
register to the PC, and configure the software. Below are instructions
on programming the register, sample cable diagrams to help dealers connect
the register to the PC, and basic installation instructions for the
software.

*LAN - Local Area Network. A network of devices (computers, printers,
hubs) occupying a small area. Usually LANs do not span more than one
building. For example: The PC/Poll office has a LAN for our development
workstations, severs, and printers. We can also put 600/700's on our LAN
and communicate with them from our workstations. Standard network cable is
required for a LAN setup
Cabling:
The cabling specifications for the Version 7 Polling Sharp 600/700 are
identical to Version 6 Polling. The cable diagrams listed below are for
RS232 communication only. For TCP/IP communication use a standard network
cable.
