Keyboard
The keyboard overlay is an added feature in the Version 6 program that is
available for purchase. The
following section of the manual explains the options that exist in this portion
of the program. The keyboard
section of the program is found in the Maintain area of Version 6.
Button Maintenance
Creating Buttons
Left click on a blank square in the Keyboard Layout to
create a new button. The Button Type window will appear.

Title
Enter the name that will be displayed on the button in the
Title field.
Btn Type
Select the button size desired. The options are
single, dual horizontal, dual vertical, and quad.
Functions
This area allows the user to select what type of function
the button should have. All functions available for the particular type of
ECR used are displayed here.
Color
Click on the Color button to choose the type of color
desired.

Forty-eight default colors are displayed. Either
choose one of these or press 'Define Custom Colors' to create a unique color.
Font
Clicking on the Font button displays this window.

Select all of the properties for the font. These
include Font, Font Style, Size, Effects (Strikeout, Underline, and Color), and
Script. The Sample area displays a model of how the letters will look.
Icon
The Icon menu allows the user to select the desired picture
for the button on the keyboard. The Keyboard Layout supports bitmaps
(*.bmp), icons (*.ico), enhanced metafiles (*.emf), and metafiles (*.wmf).
Locate the picture on either the local hard drive or the network on which the
computer is located and select it. Press OK to complete the selection.
Clear
Pressing Clear will ONLY remove the selected icon. In
order to remove text or colors, the user must clear out the Title field and
select the default color in the colors window.
Modifying Buttons
To modify an existing button, right click on it. A
menu comes up with these options: Copy, Paste, Delete, Show/Modify, Fill with
this Key, Special Fill, and Special Paste.
Copy and Paste
Selecting Copy will duplicate all of the current button's
options. Then, when the user presses Paste, an exact replica of this
button will be placed in that spot. Note: If a user attempts to paste a
button on top of an existing record, it will overwrite it and only the new
button will remain. The old button will be stored in the Used Keys area
under the Edit menu. When the Keyboard Layout section is closed, the Used
Keys area is cleared.
Delete
Right click on a button and select Delete to remove it from
the Keyboard Layout.
Show/Modify
To display the Show/Modify option, either double-click the
key or select the Show/Modify option from the menu. See Creating Buttons
for detailed descriptions of all the options on the following screen:

Fill with this Key
Selecting Fill with this Key displays a window with row and
column information. Choose the desired rows and columns and press OK.
Copies of this key will fill all of the spaces. Note: This feature will
overwrite any existing keys on the keyboard!
Special Fill
The Special Fill function is the same as Fill with this
Key, but it only transfers the key’s background color, font color, type of
font, and image to the selected keys. The title and function of the keys
are not changed.
Special Paste
Special paste will paste the properties of a key but not
the title or function of the key. For example, it will paste the key’s
background color, font color, type of font, and image.
Drag and Drop
Drag and Drop is not an option listed on any menus in the
Keyboard Layout area, but it is another way of modifying buttons. Left
click and hold down the mouse button, then drag the key to its new position.
Release the mouse button when the key is in the correct location. Note:
Keys cannot be placed on top of existing keys.
