Script

A script is a predefined list of polls to take, programs to send, and programs to receive. When the script is selected to run, these actions will execute.

Select a Machine from the Machine List. (Note: Make sure these are the same as previously allocated in PC/POLL!)

A window will appear with the names of the scripts if they have already been created. Otherwise, this window will be empty.

Select

Once at the Script Menu, highlight the desired Script and click the Select key. The communications screen will look similar to this.

Duplicate

Selecting Duplicate will display a Script Maintenance window with the same information as the first script. However, the field for Script ID will be empty. Fill in this area, change any other options that need to be altered, and press Accept. This will create a new script.

Edit

Highlight the Script name in the Script List window, and select Edit.

Editing Script Actions

To edit a Report Poll, highlight the line and click Edit. This will allow you to edit only the Area to Poll, Mode, Print Options, and the Range. If the actual data being polled from the register needs to be changed, this entire Script Action must be deleted and a new one entered.

Program Send and Program Receive areas also cannot be edited. These can only be deleted and have new ones created in their place.

Deleting Script Actions

Highlight the poll to be deleted, and select Delete Action.

Add Script

To reach this point:

1. Select Setup from the Main Menu
2. Choose Scripts from the Setup menu

From the Script List, hit Add Script. Select the ECR Type, and then this screen will appear.

Enter a Script ID. This is what the script will be referred to as in subsequent menus. Then, select Add Action.

When this screen appears, select the desired option.

Program Send and Receive

Allows user to select various programs stored in the PC to be sent to or saved from the register. One by one, click on the desired programs. When finished, select Cancel.

Report Poll

This lets the user select which areas to be polled from the cash register. Select the type of report desired from the list. The next screen displayed will depend on the type of report selected. Many polls have a similar format to the following example:

The Area to Poll area allows the user to select which totals to poll, whether it be the Daily or Periodic area. Then, select the Reset Mode for this poll. The Read , or 'X' Report, will only collect the totals, but does not clear any of the information that is stored in the register. The Reset, or 'Z' Report, will clear the register data and reset the totalizers for this particular area.

Select the desired options on the screen. When finished click Accept.

Listing

Selecting Listing will display a list of all of the scripts for the machine. The window will show the Script ID and the Actions associated with each Script. For a detailed description of the functions of the toolbar, click here to view the section on the Listing and Reporting Toolbar.

Delete Script

To delete a script, highlight its name in the Script List window. Then select Delete Script. (Note: To delete actions within a script, refer to the section on editing Scripts.)
