Before beginning the installation procedure, please reference the appendices at the back of this manual containing register specific information. Find the section entitled 'Required ECR Programming' and follow all of the instructions listed.
After completing the required programming at the register, you are ready to begin installing the software.
If the file has been downloaded from the Internet, please search for the file name to locate it on your hard drive. If the file has originated from a diskette or CD, its name will be setup.exe and can be found on Disk 1. (NOTE: If the extension (exe) cannot be seen, click View | Details on the window where the file is located.)
Locate the appropriate file on the hard drive and double click on it. The first screen that appears will read 'PC/POLL SYSTEMS Version 6.' Click Next.
The “Welcome” screen is then displayed recommending that all other running applications be closed before continuing with the Setup. The install creates a separate folder for each cash register manufacturer (CRS, Samsung, Sharp, TEC).
If there is a previous version of Version 6 on the PC, the Version Six Data directory may need to be divided. A recommendation that all data should be backed up will appear and the software will ask where the backed up data should be placed.
Click Next to view the License Agreement screen. If you agree to the conditions listed, click Next. Then, select a destination for the software. It is recommended that the suggested location not be altered unless absolutely necessary. Click Next. This will begin installing the files.
After Setup is finished, click Finish on the final screen to end the install.
When this is complete, open the program. Three registration check messages will display on the screen when the software is opened for the first time. These messages will read “Invalid Activation Code,” “Invalid Registration Code,” and “Invalid Activation Code.” Click OK on each of these windows. Then this screen will appear.

The Release Code determines the date range when the software will function, the Serial Number of the software, and the Number of Machines. All of this information is shown on the screen and will be determined by the Release Code. Information cannot be entered into any of these areas, as the Release Code will update it automatically. Enter in the Date Release Code given by PC/POLL Staff and press the button labeled Update Date Code. Enter the code on the same day it is given or it will not work! Check the dates displayed in the boxes shown under Expiration Date to make sure the date range is correct.
The Register Activation Code determines the Register models that can be created with the software. Enter the Activation Code given by PC/POLL and press the button labeled Update Activation Code. Now the box containing Register Models listed on the right will display the types of models you have purchased. Press the Close button to enter the software.
