This user-generated error occurs when sending a file that contains blank fields to the register. For example, the error will occur if a PLU Code field has no number and is part of a file that the program is sending to the register. Either the error message will appear in a separate window, or the words “No Data for: PLU” will display in the Communications window. To fix this, make sure that there are no blank fields in areas such as PLU, Cashier, etc. The number listed at the end of the message (it is the number 15 in the picture below) is the record number where the error occurs.
There are a few ways to test for or prevent these errors. Within the PLU/UPC area of the program there are two buttons, located on the lower right corner of the screen. The Verify button will look through the file and locate empty, duplicate or invalid values. The software will prompt the user when errors are found. After correcting the error, the Verify routine should be run again to insure there are no other errors within the file. The Fill Blanks button will go through the PLU/UPC file and populate empty data fields with either default or user defined values.
Another way to test the file is to export the file to a text document. Then, open the file in WordPad. Select all, and click Edit, Find. Type ,, (two commas without a space between them) as the search criteria. This will show where the error is. (To check for more than one error, press F3 to have the program look for the next possible mistake.) Then, go back into Version 6 and enter a value into the field. Make sure to Post the information after it has been edited. Do this by clicking the button with the arrow on it at the top of the window.
